A LITTLE BIT
About me
šŸ“– Legend has it that I was born with a camera in one hand and my Taco Bell order in the other
Hey there! Thanks for stopping by my corner of the internet. My name is Vyomesh (vyo-may-sh) Iyengar, and I’m currently in my fourth year of Management Engineering at the University of Waterloo.
I'm looking to explore full-time roles which allow me to learn about applications of new technologies, dig deep on complex problems, or build solutions for traditionally overlooked populations to improve their quality of life.
I love stories in every form: books, movies, shows, photos, theater, a good old conversation, or any combination of the above. My flair for the dramatic has undoubtedly been as a result of my years of watching Bollywood and Kollywood movies. I recently started long-distance running, and ran my first full marathon in May 2024!
My product philosophy
HUMANS ARE THE CENTERPIECE
IĀ want the products I create to feel like you're sitting at your favourite restaurant on a weekday night; familiar, soulful, and reliable. I spend a lot of time talking to people: stakeholders, users, my team, and everyone in between.

The reason for this is to understand the 'why', what is the core problem and how do I create a product that is the perfect solution.
UNDERSTAND THE NUMBERS
In school, IĀ did not understand math. What did all these abstract concepts have to do with me, and why did IĀ need to know how to calculate the triple integral of a function?

Building products, I've realized how important it is to contextualize the numbers that we're measuring. Combining metrics with an understanding of the people we are building for, allows us to understand how well we are providing value.
BE A TOURIST
The way IĀ work is similar to the way IĀ travel: each day IĀ have a North Star vision of The One Thingā„¢ that I have to see, but beyond that I let the world guide me.

It's important to me that IĀ have a vision of the product I'm creating. The intricacies of what it does and how it works is a collaborative process, and is truly what excites me - exploring a side road, finding a hidden waterfall, and bringing it all together to form a cohesive experience.
Some of my side quests
My roommate and I directed a play! Titled "EngPlay Presents: The Asscrack Bandit Returns", it was based off of the sitcom Community by Dan Harmon. Yes I do have a video, and yes the toilet humor went over great with the audience of primarily university students.
We put together a designathon! In a full circle moment, we worked with the team at UW/UX to put organize 'TILEĀ 2.0' an in-person designathon with attendees from across 5 schools in Ontario.
Building tech for social good! IĀ recently completed 8 terms on the team, with my last two terms as Co-President. I focused on developing processes on the craft side of the team, and organizing events on the community side.
Taking lots of pictures! I've been known to stop in the street to take random pictures and have recently upgraded to buying a mini video camera in order to embarrass my family and friends even further. Check out some of my favourite photos below!
